Fehlleistungen als Empathie-Chance – die Gegenläufigkeit von „Projekten“ der Patientin und der Therapeutin

Eine verhaltenstherapeutische Sitzung und ihr Anfang

Zusammenfassung

Das Beispiel der Fehlleistung einer Patientin zu Beginn einer verhaltenstherapeutischen Sitzung wird zum Ausgangspunkt einer Einzelfallstudie genommen. Mit den Mitteln der Konversationsanalyse wird gezeigt, welche Chancen in der Wahrnehmung einer Fehlleistung liegen bzw. umgekehrt, welche verspielt werden. Die ganz restliche Sitzung ist vom Thema der Fehlleistung bestimmt, sie organisiert die Beziehung, das Verständnis des Rahmens und der wechselseitigen Rollen. Die Differenz zwischen dem Persönlichen und der Rolle wird verschoben. Empathie als therapeutische Basiskompetenz muss eine theoretische Stütze haben, sollen Phänomene wie Fehlleistungen nicht ignoriert bleiben. Das Ergebnis dieser Studie an genauen Transkriptionen ist, dass Empathie sich in Konversationen realisieren und bewähren kann, wenn deren Details feinkörnig genug wahrgenommen werden. Empathie ist keine individuelle Kompetenz, sondern realisiert sich in subtilen Kooperationen – oder aber nicht in deren Verweigerung.

Das von der Köhlerstiftung finanzierte Projekt vergleicht an Transkripten die Empathie-Darstellung in therapeutischen Konversationen von psychoanalytischen, tiefenpsychologischen und verhaltenstherapeutischen Behandlungen.

Diese kleinen „sweet little nothings“ wie „So“ oder ein einleitendes „Also“ werden in aller Regel von Therapeuten nicht bemerkt oder jedenfalls nicht erwähnt. Sie machen jedoch für Gesprächsführung, Atmosphäre, für kognitive Kategorisierungsprozesse sehr viel aus, sie bilden Kontraste oder schließen zusammen, sie positionieren einen Sprecher im Beziehungsraum und regulieren Affekte (Barske und Golato 2010; Golato 2012).

Diese Art von Ersetzung der einen durch eine andere Äußerung wird als „replacing“ Schegloff (2013) bezeichnet (S. 43). Den in Frage stehenden Zusammenhang betont Schegloff (2013, S. 68) mit den Worten: „what speakers do to provide for recipients the recognizability of a repair operation“.
