Zusammenfassung

Palliative Sedierung wird heutzutage als Maßnahme zur Reduktion der Symptomlast von anderweitig therapierefraktären Beschwerden in der letzten Lebensphase anerkannt. Die Sedierung von Patienten mit vorwiegend existentiellen und psychischen Symptomen ist nach wie vor umstritten und wird in der Indikationsstellung viel strenger gesehen. Der Fallbericht schildert den Verlauf und die schwierige Entscheidungsfindung bei einer 56-jährigen Patientin mit terminalem Ovarialkarzinom, bei der aufgrund einer therapierefraktären existentiellen Not eine palliative Sedierung durchgeführt wurde. Wir diskutieren den Fall anhand der Literatur.
