Assistierte Peritonealdialyse: Nierenersatztherapie in häuslicher Umgebung für den älteren Patienten

Zusammenfassung

Die Anzahl älterer Patienten an der Nierenersatztherapie ist kontinuierlich im Steigen begriffen. Komorbiditäten und Gebrechlichkeit dieser Patientengruppe führen zu geringer Toleranz gegenüber dem am häufigsten angewandten Verfahren, der Hämodialyse im Zentrum. Die Peritonealdialyse als Heimdialyseverfahren erfordert, selbstständig durchgeführt, jedoch ein Mindestmaß an körperlichen und kognitiven Fähigkeiten und bleibt aus diesem Grund vielen älteren Patienten vorenthalten. Professionelle Assistenz bei der Durchführung des Verfahrens ermöglicht dieser Patientengruppe eine Nierenersatztherapie von hoher Qualität in häuslicher Umgebung unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von altersspezifischen Bedürfnissen und Lebensqualität.
Die Ergebnisse des assistierten Peritonealdialyseprogrammes im Landesklinikum St. Pölten zeigen eine qualitativ hochwertige Nierenersatztherapie mit geringen Komplikations- und Hospitalisationsraten ohne dass Mehrkosten gegenüber der konventionellen Hämodialysebehandlung entstehen.
