Background: Xanthelasma palpebrarum (XP) is associated with increased
risk of ischemic heart disease and myocardial infarction independent
of other well-known cardiovascular risk factors. Cardio-ankle vascular
index (CAVI) is a novel index of arterial stiffness and important
marker of subclinical atherosclerosis.
Background: Cardiac troponins and red cell distribution width (RDW)
are associated with increased mortality in acute pulmonary embolism
(PE). In this study, we aimed to investigate the accuracy of the
combined use of troponin and RDW in predicting short-term mortality in
acute PE patients.
The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress 2016 in Rome –
the world’s largest and most influential cardiovascular meeting –
featured best science in 500 sessions and covered 150 topics. It
definitely plugged the gap between cardiovascular knowledge and
routine clinical practice.
A real world experience
Background: In a retrospective analysis of a prospective single
center registry we compared the use of bivalirudin, unfractionated
heparin (UFH) monotherapy, UFH + abciximab in 1240 consecutive
patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) undergoing stent
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess CD45-positive
platelets (CD45+ platelets) involvement in restenosis development
after drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation in patients with stable
coronary artery disease (CAD).
Objective: The study was carried out to examine the association
between apolipoprotein B (ApoB) EcoRI polymorphism (E- vs. E+)
(rs1042031) and coronary heart disease (CHD) risk by systematically
analyzing multiple independent studies.
