Zusammenfassung

Infektionen und Rheuma sind nicht nur durch den Entzündungsprozess als gemeinsame Basis charakterisiert, sondern stehen in vielfältiger Hinsicht miteinander in Verbindung. Einige Infektionserreger betreffen bevorzugt direkt die Gelenke und für viele Autoimmunphänomene werden infektiöse Trigger vermutet. In differenzialdiagnostischer Hinsicht ist eine klare Zuordnung zu Rheuma bzw. zur Infektion nicht immer einfach zu treffen. Außerdem sind die immer komplexer werdenden immunmodulierenden Therapien bei rheumatischen Erkrankungen mit durchaus beachtlichen Infektionsrisiken verbunden, sodass eine enge Zusammenarbeit beider Fachgebiete sinnvoll erscheint.
