Zusammenfassung

Die Durchimpfungsraten sind beim Gesundheitspersonal (Health Care Workers, HCW) des Gesundheitswesens in Österreich – insbesondere auch im Krankenhausbereich – als nicht ausreichend zu bezeichnen. Dies ist ein Problem, das über die persönlichen Interessen der betroffenen MitarbeiterInnen hinausgeht, da hier vor allem auch der Schutz der betreuten PatientInnen vor durch Impfung vermeidbaren Infektionskrankheiten zu bedenken ist. Dies gilt insbesondere für nicht immunkompetente PatientInnen, bei denen Infektionen einen schwereren und mitunter tödlichen Verlauf nehmen können.
Das vorliegende Dokument enthält – erstmals für Österreich – Richtlinien zu Impfungen für das Gesundheitspersonal. Dies inkludiert zunächst das Personal in Spitälern, Instituten und Labors, weiters natürlich auch der medizinischen Universitäten einschließlich der StudentInnen. Diese Richtlinien werden aber auch dem niedergelassenen Bereich empfohlen.
Zudem werden die ethischen und rechtlichen Grundlagen für solche Richtlinien in eigenen Abschnitten in diesem Dokument dargestellt.
